Pest control

Hey all. I have 3 lovely noodles aged 3-7 and we just moved to a wooded area that is definitely going to have some bug problems.

Trying to figure out the best way to navigate this. They have their own room so it's easy to isolate them, but I hate the idea of a poisoned roach making it there and then one of them decides to munch on it while the poison is still active,

So how does everyone else handle it? I've put some pest killers in my yard that's definitely helped, but I just found ants coming in from the garage and I'm worried roaches may start finding a way in.
