Does anybody hate how irrelevant Orion has become throughout the years?

You would think that the son of one of the most iconic comic book villains in history would be more known, but he’s very obscure. When he was first created by Jack Kirby, he was based on people with PTSD in war. The premise of character was dope. The son of Darkseid dealing with his own demons, who’s also the only one capable of killing his father.

Orion and Darkseid’s relationship also inspired the creations of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Narratively Orion was created to be the one powerful enough to stop his father. The Dog of War going against the Dark Lord of Apokolips. As time went on, Darkseid branched out and started to become a major villain for the Justice League due to how powerful he was. This means that narratively they made Superman be the one powerful enough to stop him, because Superman embodies hope and heroism while Darkseid embodies evil and despair.

I do love Superman vs Darkseid but I hate that DC has put Orion in obscurity and no longer focus on him being the one to take his father out. I think it would’ve been dope if DC writers made Superman and Orion superhero rivals similar to Goku and Vegeta, because not only are their color schemes for their designs the same colors but different, but narratively they’re the only two superheroes in DC comics that are powerful enough to take down Darkseid.

Imagine if Superman and Orion but took turns in defeating Darkseid instead of only Superman being the one to defeat him while Orion jobs and loses to people he shouldn’t lost against? This is my biggest issue with Orion and how he’s handled, personally I think he’s an even more disrespected character than heroes like Martian Manhunter and Captain Atom. Orion to me feels like a mixture between Thor and Hulk.
