So, many people noticed that the music video is coming out on monday, while the song comes out tomorrow night. BIG BIG DISCLAIMER that I don't care if anyone listens to her music or watches her videos or is a casual fan or whatever. This post is just meant to shed light on her billboard strategy in case anyone wasn't aware why theyre doing it this way.
Billboard recently changed their rules to state that youtube music videos and lyric videos no longer count towards charting/the bbhot100. This is why taylor swift made a big deal about her opalite music video coming out on Spotify first, so her fans go there on release day instead of YouTube so she charts better.
For ariana, she/her label doing something similar where the song comes out on music streaming platforms before the music video so anyone who even wants to give the song a curiosity listen will have to go to Spotify etc to listen. If the video was put on YouTube simultaneously, anyone who wanted to hear the song without helping her chart could just listen to it there. So this strategy helps her chart better.
There's also an added layer of her *not* putting the music video on Spotify, like Taylor did, because theres more than just billboard. She could use this strategy to drum up anticipation for the music video, and try to go after some vevo record etc.
All of this to say that if you don't think she deserves to go number 1, or doesn't deserve her career, or doesn't deserve her wealth, this is the moment where you as the consumer have the power to say "no thank you" its an opportunity to vote with your wallet and your attention.
At the end of the day, its not that deep and im sure the song will be successful either way. Its just worth pointing out for the ones here who want accountability and karma for her, theres things you can do to help her chart, and theres things you can do to not help her chart and it doesn't make much sense to help her chart and then turn around and say you can't wait for her "downfall". Bonus, any number you help her inflated or achieve will be used by her fan base to hit people over the head with obnoxiously.
I also realize that we're all here talking about her, but I certainly don't give her any money, shes not on my playlists and only 1 person needs to post here for hundreds to see it without giving her the views.
