Before anyone asks — yes, this is a watch post. Bear with me.

My name is Laurent Doussot, founder of Doussot Watches in Montreal. Before watches, I spent two decades designing and building high-end custom folding knives — damascus blades, sculpted titanium frames, inlaid handles. Work that took weeks per piece and zero shortcuts.

In 1994 I won Best Art Folding Knife at SICAC in Paris — one of the most respected art knife shows in Europe. Around 2004, my microbrand Skalja Knives was a finalist for Best New Production Knife at Blade Show Atlanta. Twenty years of obsessing over fit, finish, geometry, and material interaction at a level most people never see up close.

That background is exactly why Doussot Watches exists.

The same instincts that drove me to obsess over a pivot's geometry, the transition between a bolster and a scale, the way light moves across a layered surface — those are the same instincts behind the ONAMI.

It's a 43mm automatic elevated tool dive watch. 316L forged case. Miyota 9039. Internal rotating bezel via a 9:00 crown. Sandwich dial with BGW9 lume and a fumé gradient sunburst finish. 200m water resistance. Four dial variants — each named after a body of water.

This isn't a logo on a case. I'm a maker. I know what layered construction looks like from the inside out. I know what it costs to get a surface transition right. And I know when to walk away from a detail that isn't there yet.
