My work started requiring staff who's caseload isn't compliant to drive to Cincinnati to work in person on a Saturday and I don't want to do that.

I work for CareStar as a Recovery Manager (basically a Caseworker) that works with clients diagnosed with severe persistent mental illness, chronic health conditions (e.g. cancer, etc), or end stage renal disease. I work M-F between 8am-5pm which are CareStar's business hours. We assess if their condition qualifies for our specialized Recovery services program through Medicaid allowing them to keep their benefits due to not qualifying for standard Medicaid either due to income caps, etc. The max number of clients we can get assigned is around 140 (I'm resting at 72 now). I've been here about 3 months as of today.

One of my responsibilities in this Case Manager type of position is calling my clients 1x a month to check-in on them to identify new needs, progress on current goals, following the programs rules, med compliance, and connecting them with tools that they don’t have and will need (e.g. at-home dialysis equipment, mobility aids, etc). Other duties include meeting clients 1x a year for annual redetermination to see if they still qualify for our program, visiting clients after 180 days from when they were approved for the program, updating their treatment/service plan, etc.

During a team training on the final Thursday of last month, my region's Clinical Manager advised everyone that upper management is implementing requiring Recovery Managers and Assessors (does initial assessments for the program) to work on a designated Saturday if your caseload is not deemed compliant: 180-day visits not done, service plans not updated, all monthly calls not done (done 1x each month within the 1st 2 weeks), or their assessments are overdue, etc. They're enforcing it regardless if you inherited clients from a previous Recovery Manager thar failed to keep their clients chart meeting ODM's standards.

I inherited all of my clients from previous staff who no longer work for the company within 2 months of starting at CareStar. All of my clients were either missing required paperwork, service plans missing required components (e.g. goals, billable services), and other things basically making them be non-compliant. We had until last Friday the 14th to have all calls, visits, and other items in our client's chart be in good standing and notify upper management once we do that to be excluded from working this Saturday 8/22. Being new to this position and inheriting clients who needed complete overhaul of their charts due to the previous worker failing to do their job right, I couldn't meet that deadline and am being forced to drive 3hrs and 30min to Cincinnati to their main office on 8/22 to work a full day (I'm salary and don't get OT). They're offering to book us a hotel on Friday. They're giving me 0.65/cents a mile which between driving down there and back will be about $297.70 which is nice, lol. A tank of gas for my car is like 40-42 with the current prices. XD

Not looking forward to it, but just gonna make the best of it with the wife and I having fun while we're down in Cincinnati, lol.
