Started a mini retirement last week
I left my employer last week and am taking a few months off before I start my dream job! I reached my lean FI number a while back so this will be a nice taste of what actual fire will look like in the years to come and a chance to practice a drawdown strategy. I'll see how my new job works out. If I truly love it I may put off actual FI/RE for a long time. That's the beauty of financial independence. It buys freedom from being stuck where you'd rather not be.
Also, the large amount of posts I see here with FI numbers in the multi millions seems odd. I feel like a 4k per month spend rate is pretty comfortable for mcol America. It surprises me when people talk about not feeling comfortable at 7+M.
To the folks out there who are looking for a mcol or lcol life, keep on track. You're doing great. Assess your spend and use that number. Not some hyper inflated ego number.
