Hi everyone,

I’m an Indian student planning to pursue a Master’s in Engineering in the USA (Fall 2026), and I’m currently confused between Cleveland State University and the University of Dayton.

I would really appreciate honest opinions from current students, alumni, or anyone who knows about these universities.

Some things I want to know:

  • Which university is better overall for engineering programs?
  • How are the internship and full-time job opportunities?
  • Which location is better for international students in terms of networking and opportunities?
  • How difficult is it to get part-time jobs on/off campus?
  • What’s the average cost of living in Cleveland vs Dayton?
  • Which university has better ROI considering tuition + job opportunities?
  • How is the Indian student community at both universities?
  • How manageable are living expenses as an international student?

I’ve heard CSU has advantages because of its location in Cleveland, while UD has a stronger reputation in engineering, so I’m trying to understand which would be the better practical choice.

Would really appreciate any insights, experiences, pros/cons, or suggestions.

Thanks a lot!

Indian students at University of Dayton (Engineering) – need honest insights on experience, expenses & jobs

Hi everyone,

I’m an Indian student planning to pursue a Master’s in Engineering (EE) at the University of Dayton (Fall 2026 intake), and I wanted to get some real insights from Indians currently studying there or recent graduates.

I have a few questions:

1. Overall Experience

  • How is the academic quality (especially engineering)?
  • How are professors and coursework?
  • Is the university worth it compared to other similar universities?

2. Cost of Living

  • What’s the average monthly expense (rent, food, utilities, etc.)?
  • Is on-campus or off-campus housing better?
  • Any tips to save money?

3. Job Opportunities

  • How are internship opportunities during the course?
  • How tough is it to get part-time jobs on/off campus?
  • What about full-time job opportunities after graduation?

4. Managing Expenses

  • How do you manage finances? (part-time, savings, etc.)
  • Is it realistic to cover some expenses through part-time work?

I’d really appreciate honest opinions (both pros & cons)—I want to make a practical decision before committing.

Thanks in advance!
