I genuinely thought I got a bad lithium battery.
I recently upgraded my RV from a Continental lead-acid battery to a Vatrer lithium battery. Hooked it up to my NOCO Genius 5 and started charging around 8 am. By the end of the day… it was stuck at 51% and wouldn’t move.
Figured maybe it just needed more time.
Woke up the next morning, and it had no change.
What really threw me off was that my RV had been plugged into shore power the entire time. I thought there was a problem with my RV converter as well.
At that point, I was pretty convinced something was wrong with the battery.
After some troubleshooting, turns out the issue was way simpler than I expected:
My charger just wasn’t powerful enough.
The NOCO Genius 5 works fine for smaller batteries, but it couldn’t keep up with a larger lithium setup. So even though it looked like it was charging, it basically wasn’t doing much.
Switched to a higher output charger that actually matches the battery, and everything immediately started working normally.
Battery charged up fine, no more getting stuck at 50%.
Posting this in case anyone else runs into the same thing—if your lithium battery seems like it won’t charge or keeps dropping, it might not be the battery at all. Could just be your charger.
