Mandalorian and Grogu is the new Spirit Untamed?!

Mandalorian and Grogu is the new Spirit Untamed?!

I was reading this AVClub article, and it says that Mando and Grogu is the first theatrical movie based on a TV/streaming show spin-off of an original movie.

I counter

•Movie: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron

*•*Streaming Show: Spirit Riding Free

Theatrical Movie Based on Streaming Show: Spirit Untamed

This means, if my math is correct, we should expect baby yoda DLC in Spirit: Lucky's Big Adventure.

"When Vogue falls, that's when we'll know that fascism approaches"

--Devil Wears Prada 2 ep--

When Griffin was saying that the importance of defending against fascism is maintaining "high class" fashion outlets maintain their position above the implied commoners, i'm so glad that David started to laugh.

Griffin's argument that fascism sees high fashion as "superfluous" because state power don't want people "spending money on anything that doesn't matter" might be one of the most radically detached from reality statements i've heard on the pod.

I get that he's basing this on Grand Budapest—but that transitive comparative analysis if art doesn't flow when the result is a statement about real world power that's counter to how the real world has historically functioned.

Eliminating the 'superficial' isn't innately fascistic. Every single fascistic state has overly spent on stuff that doesn't matter in terms of efficiency. Fascists *love* appearances and maintaining a clear separation between low and high class. It's how they give the appearance of power.

This isn't to say "the boys shouldn't discuss politics" (that's why i started out with David's counter—to highlight the positive) or to rag on Griff (we all say dumb shit our friends might openly laugh at).

This post is only because I had a lot of thoughts, and needed to get them out before my lunch break ends.

PS No, Bezos sponsoring the MetGala isn't fascism either. That's capitalism going unchecked and people being unwilling to turn down money because they value cash over taking moral stand
