I (33M) and my wife (32F) are moving to Ireland at the end of next month. She is well established with years of experience in her field as a recruiter where I have several years experience as a marketer. We're moving over to take care of my parents who are getting on a bit and as a result are going to be living in Donegal rather than trying to find a rental somewhere further south in Dublin or Cork and taking a rental up from someone who needs it.
I've spent a fair bit of time in the area we're moving to and know it's not a grand metropolis, finding something locally based seemed a bit unlikely to start with but that now feels to even be an overstatement.
When I look on LinkedIn the first 30+ results for my field are all remote jobs being filled by agencies seemingly basically for anyone anywhere in Europe. As someone who has been dealing with the job market here in the US after being "downsized" later last year these job postings remind me of going through hours throwing applications into the void never to be heard from again. Is my instinct correct or is this just what the remote job market looks like in Europe?
As an aside - I've done a fair bit of looking through this and related subreddits and unfortunately for a number of reasons staying where we are is not much of an option.
