Hi everyone,
I’m in the process of submitting my application for admission to the New York Bar (3rd Department), and I have a quick question about notarization.
The instructions say that the Application for Admission Questionnaire must be signed in front of a notary. I understand that in-person notarization is the standard, but I’m wondering whether remote online notarization would be accepted for this purpose.
From what I’ve read, New York now allows electronic notarization under certain conditions (e.g., using a licensed NY electronic notary and a compliant platform), but I’m not sure how strictly the Appellate Division applies this in practice for bar admission documents.
Has anyone here successfully used remote online notarization for their NY bar admission paperwork?
Or is it safer to just go with a traditional in-person notary to avoid any risk of rejection or delay? I am currently out of state for work-related travel. Can I just go to somebody here?
I’m trying to avoid delays since timing is important for me, so I’d really appreciate any firsthand experiences or guidance.
