
The image attached is my personal top 20 list. As you can see, it is dominated by male-driven stories. Intensity, defiance, and dark humor are common themes. A clean resolution is something I tend to dismiss. Music and score is also something I highly value. Above all, I seem most interested in the obsession of the mind. Characters who become obsessed with what they do, who they’re with, and/or where they are and thus, push the limits.
I would love to receive some suggestions along these lines, particularly more female driven stories. Also, what could be interesting are more foreign films and/or more experimental films.
