Mobapad M12 HD first impressions.
I just received a pair of Mobapad and my first impressions are a bit cold.
The first thing I noticed is how great the hooking mechanism is, it mimics the joycon mechanism to a tee. They fit the body of the console seamlessly too.
The grips are very contoured, you can really hug the controllers, it's a nice touch and grip.
The sticks are the main event on this device, aside from the ergo increase, they feel as good as the Pro Controller 2, very glidey, tension feels on point, very precise.
Buttons and triggers are clicky, not too loud, have a decent feeling, but I would have prefered membrane buttons.
Dpad feels cheap, plastic and feeling wise.
Extra buttons (menu, + - and so on) also feel cheap, the touch and the plastic.
But the biggest downside for me is that they are detected as joycons. So the main thing I bought them for (back buttons) doesn't really work well. You have to assign them manually, via a combination of buttons, the Pro Controller software/memory slots don't do anything, and worse yet, you can only assign buttons of its own side, so you cannot say really have face buttons assigned on the left joycon. HUGE let down.
Aparently you can assign back buttons independently of their side via the mobile app. Not ideal, but at least there is the option.
On a side note, at first I wasn't able to pair them, but they have two switches on the back, turning them off and on did the job.
Ergo is 10/10
Functionality is 6/10. Updated to 7.
