An alarming new battleground in campus fights over Israel

I owe a partial apology to the people at the Forward. Last week, someone on this sub suggested that their takes were so bad that posting links to them should be banned, and I replied that they should be allowed to be posted, as an example of really bad takes. And then they turn around and publish this excellent callout of the behavior of the faculty speaker at the University of Michigan commencement. It was written by Alanna Cooper, who is a professor at Case Western Reserve, so she has standing to speak as a university faculty member.

It matters a little (but not much) that Professor Cooper is not a Forward staff writer. The fact is that an editor made the decision to run this for the Forward's audience, and that in and of itself deserves to be acknowledged. Of course, being the Forward, they couldn't run it without counterpointing (and linking to) an incredibly bad antizionist take on the same commencement speech. But it's still a tiny step better than only running the latter.
