Follow-up: My Little tripawd Sonny is doing great!

From a few weeks back, we had out ~8 month old pup schedule for a front left amputation due to a early age bone break that affected a growth plate in his leg. He had his staples in for 3 weeks, a week longer than anticipated but he no longer has the pain associated with the bum leg. It's been rough keeping a young dog with near limitless energy from playing too rough or risking further complications, but I can happily say yesterday he got the all clear to be a dog again and be outside, get a bath, play rough, etc.

To anyone on the fence about whether or not your dog will recover or adapt to 3 legs, at least from our anecdotal experience, I think your pup will be just fine! First photo is pre-surgery and how his lameness presented, second photo is the day we got him back from the amputation, and the third photo was this morning after a walk and play session outside.

I'm sure like many of you, we agonized over whether or not having a limb amputated was the right thing for our dog. He's had a bit of a rough start to life but seeing him now, a couple days post-op, we think we made the right decision. Give all your fur babies some extra love today, please.
