CASC revision: Which stations are people finding hardest this sitting?

With the next CASC sitting coming up, I was interested to hear what stations people are finding most difficult to revise for at the moment.

I’ve recently been practising and recording some communication-focused CASC scenarios, particularly explanation stations and CAMHS assessments, and it’s made me realise how tricky some of these encounters can be under exam conditions.

Topics I’ve covered so far include:

  • Explaining ECT
  • Functional neurological disorder / dissociative seizures
  • Treatment-resistant depression
  • Neuroleptic malignant syndrome
  • CAMHS depression assessment

I’m also currently working on an opioid dependence assessment station.

Would be really interested to hear:

  • Which stations people struggle with most
  • Areas that are underrepresented in revision resources

If useful, I’m happy to share some of the scenarios I’ve made.

Good luck to everyone revising.

Free MRCPsych CASC Revision YouTube Channel - New Stations for Upcoming Exams

Hi everyone,

With the upcoming CASC exams getting closer, I’ve started uploading regularly again to my free MRCPsych CASC revision YouTube channel.

The focus is on realistic psychiatry communication and clinical stations, with clear structure and practical phrasing that can be adapted in the exam. I also discuss psychological formulation, examiner expectations, and ways to maximise marks in CASC stations.

Recent videos include:

  • Explaining functional neurological disorder (functional seizures) to a concerned relative
  • Assessing a depressed adolescent in a CAMHS station
  • Neuroleptic malignant syndrome
  • Treatment-resistant depression
  • Explaining ECT to a patient

I’m currently working on an opioid dependence assessment station as well.

So far I’ve uploaded 9 full CASC videos plus several shorts, and the channel has grown to over 350 subscribers, which has been really encouraging.

I’d really appreciate suggestions for stations people struggle with or would like covered before the next sitting.

Hope it’s helpful, and good luck to everyone revising.
