LPT: Come to terms with the fact that there will always be someone better than you at the thing you're doing.
I used to always compare myself to others in everything. Money, academics, playing an instrument, painting, work, sports, cooking, communicating, fashion, etc. If you are constantly comparing yourself to others who you think are "better" than you, you may find yourself putting unnecessary pressure or restrictions on yourself in pursuit of something that may not even be attainable. If you accept that there will always be someone better than you, you can have freedom from comparing yourself to others.
For me, this freedom gave me the space to start comparing myself to myself, and that made every little progress or "win" so much more special. I started enjoying hobbies again, not holding myself to perfection or what it "should" look like. Creative endeavors don't feel like a burden or like they're never good enough. Give yourself this freedom, because comparison is indeed the thief of joy.
(obviously, I'm not talking about world champions or prodigies, lol)
