Missing In West Virginia: What happened to Marsha "Mudd" Ferber owner and operator of The Underground Railroad and the liberal hippie, "outlaw" in 1988?

Marsha sounds like she was the topic of a lot of conversations for many years specifically in Morgantown West Virginia. It seems Marsha was surrounded by friends and people that she loved and it seemed they loved her back by all descriptions of her life leading up to her vanishing. Though no direct "enemies " were out and out mentioned the fate of Marsha Ferber is still unknown.

Marsha moved from New Jersey with her family and another couple to start the Mudd Farm Commune in Calhoun County West Virginia in the 70's and then moved to Morgantown. Marsha was a mother of two children. She founded The Underground Railroad in 1982.

This establishment was said to greatly reflect her liberal, political views and her taste in music. The Underground Railroad is described as a bar and music venue. It was said to promote equality and the 80's were apparently Marsha's hay day and she was described as an entrepreneur who hated capitalism. She also mentored teens at "The Dry House" and owned 2 music venues. The younger generation called her "Ma." She also used The Underground Railroad to hide and relocate victims of domestic violence.

Marsha was a smoker and possibly seller of Marijuana at the time of her disappearance and some say maybe even in the distribution of cocaine at that time, according to one of her friends.

There are two different dates given throughout articles for the day Marsha was actually last seen. Some sources say it was April 25th 1988, others say April 28th 1988, but it still seems somewhere in the passing of time and information the windows of her actual disappearance may be a few days wide. It was unclear to me if she was in any romantic relationships at the time of her disappearance.

The details all seem to point to being that on the night she was last seen at the nightclub she had left to run some errands. She left behind her car, her keys, her purse and wallet Also leaving behind 32,000 in cash and "a half a loaf of hash" in the safe. Marsha never returned from running those errands and has never been seen again. Marsha was 47 years old at the time of her disappearance.

No one close to Marsha believes she vanished of her own accord. She would not have willingly left her children and family or her businesses behind. Some rumors seemed to speculate she was running from something and or went to Florida or Jamaica. These claims have never panned out or been proven as anything more than rumor or speculation.

In 1988 Marsha was living a very colorful life. It seems she had a wide range of things going on and no shortage of her leaving her mark on the world. But then like that she has vanished and many years have gone by with no answers for her loved ones.

Was it the drug connection that caused her to come to harm? Did she vanish willingly and decide to leave it all behind? Was she targeted for some reason?

There really is such vague detail about any investigation that transpired in 1988. It sounds like Marsha was a small town "celebrity ", did this cause someone to focus on her? Perhaps someone with different political views.

I hope someday, somehow, Marsha's loved ones get answers to all the questions that time has built up. What happened to Marsha Ferber in Morgantown West Virginia in 1988?

Missing In Alaska: Two decades have passed so what happened to Kristopher Kelly and his dad Robert Kelly Sr. in 2004?

This case was covered in the sub about 6 years ago and I also commented on it. But I have read so many cases over the last few years of write ups that in regards to choices for Alaska I think I'd still like to touch on it again if simply to stir fresh eyes and discussion.

I still scratch my head wondering why there wasn't more information out there about what steps were ever taken to search for this pair. Unlike many of the missing person cases in Alaska, a mountain didn't take this father and son it wasn't an off trail hike that made them vanish and it also appears it wasn't the sea, a plane or a bear.

This will be another case that no matter how many links I provide they will give you the same vague repetitive information. It seems collectively though that the last time that Robert Kelly Sr., who was 58 years old at this time and his 17 year old son, Kristopher Kelly were ever seen was on May 16, 2004. They were seen leaving their home in Fairbanks Alaska located on Chena Pump Road.

Thirteen days later on May 29th 2004 Robert Kelly's oldest son (Robert Kelly Jr.) went to his father's home on Chena Pump road looking for his dad and brother. When he got there his father's 1981 white Oldsmobile Cutlass was not at the home. Robert Jr. found the door to the home unlocked and empty when he stepped inside. With the exception of the father and son's dog who was said to have appeared to be in poor condition from having been left inside so long. Most likely starving as if he hadn't been taken care of for some time.

Robert Kelly Junior reported his father and brother missing that same day. (I did read somewhere that the pair may have been reported missing a few days apart?) But I cannot verify that as it mostly appears that Robert Jr. reported them both missing on May 29th.

Here it seems reporting and information goes quiet about what if any search efforts or investigation are made into looking for the father and son after the missing report is made. Then on June 1st 2004 the White Cutlass is found. When the car was found it is reported it was located at the Bentley Mall parking lot. Kristopeher nor Robert Sr. are with the car at this time. No public information released about the condition of the car or what if anything was found with it.

Within just a few days of finding the car a warrant was issued for Robert Kelly Sr. The warrant came at this time because he had recently been charged with driving on a suspended license and had failed to appear for that court dates thus the warrant was then issued.

This is where officially most of the online information, articles and news reports end.

It seems there is no official theory publicly put out there and little to no information about the case in general. I'm going to assume Robert Kelly Jr. would still like to know what happened to his family.

If Kristopher is still alive he would be 39 years old and Robert Sr would be 80.

In the comments of the original thread it was speculated that perhaps this was a murder suicide....but that doesn't necessarily explain who parked the car at the mall. That person would most likely hold the key to this mystery.

Another commenter dug around and found an obituary from 2004 of a woman they believe was married to Robert Kelly Sr. speculating that he became a widow that year. None of that has been reported or proven, just adding some extra information. What did happen to this father and son? I hope any remaining loved ones someday have answers.

Missing In Alaska: What happened to Shanna Oman in 2019 under the midnight sun?

Almost every source I could find on the case, like many of them I have come across along the way, it has a lot of repeated information. Each article reading almost the same copy paste word for word.

Because of that there are so many things I do not know about Shanna. I do not know if any of her family members are left behind still seeking her such as her parents or any siblings or extended family. In my notes from a year ago about her I had at some point read she possibly was the mother of 3 children. But tonight when gathering links I could not find that information in anything I reread. So I am adding it with hesitation.

I do know that on the night Shanna vanished she was 39 years old. Most articles primarily only mention Shanna and an unidentified male friend who reported her missing and who was the last to see her alive according to most all accounts.

Shanna was from Eagle River, Alaska but on the evening of June 2, 2019 she was staying with a friend in Fairbanks. It seems this friend was residing in a cabin at the time in the area that borders the Chena River. According to the male friend he was supposed to drive Shanna back to Eagle River whenever she was ready to go home.

But he reports that around 12:30 a.m. Shanna simply "walked away" from his cabin leaving behind her dog, her money, and all her belongings. She has never been seen again. It is possible she did have her cellphone with her which last pinged around the 17 mile marker on Chena Hot Springs Road.

According to the male friend he initially believed she'd somehow found a way home but at some point on June 3rd he contacts Law Enforcement to report her missing. By all articled sources it seems this male friend fully cooperated with the investigation and seems to have not been suspected of anything. Nor named a person of interest.

Helicopters, Law Enforcement and dogs searched the area. Shanna was not found.

I also read in more then one source that her family believes her to be deceased. So I hope whatever remaining family there are out there someday get the answers that they seek.

If you have any information about the whereabouts of Shanna Oman, who would be 46 years old if alive today, you can contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-451-5100

Did Shanna somehow have an accident that early morning? Perhaps falling in the nearby river? Did she walk away to meet someone? Or did someone nefarious come across her during her walk?

I really hope whatever the case is that this case will not grow any colder and has a resolution someday soon.

On the evening of June 4th 1999 Michael "Mike" Palmer had stayed the night with a friend. Some sources claim Mike, who was 15 years old at the time, had snuck out of the house on this night. Mike was reportedly going to attend a grad party with 3 of his friends near the Meadow Lake subdivision outside of Wasilla.

According to The Charley Project page the friends had all been riding together on bicycles but Mike had started to "fall behind ". The friends reported that they had waited for Mike on Parks Highway at a 7-11 to catch up, but Mike never showed up there. The friends gave up waiting because they had assumed he'd gone home. Mike Palmer never made it home and he has never been seen again.

https://www.webcenterfairbanks.com/2024/08/04/missing-north-michael-timothy-palmer/

The bike that Michael Palmer had been riding that night was borrowed from a friend and was later discovered in the Little Susitna River. This river runs parallel to two roads Pittman Road and Silver Drive and the bike was found near that intersection.

Mike's high top Converse shoes were discovered near a privately owned runway for a homeowner's personal aircraft. The shoes were reported to have been wet and muddy upon the discovery.

Local rumors circulated at the time that Mike may have been beaten by an unknown suspect, or suspects while riding his bike.

At one point during the investigation, a local youth from the area reported seeing Mike being beaten and shot on a bridge , but later claimed to have made that story up. Other theories circulated that perhaps it was an accident and Mike had fallen into the river and died of hyperthermia. At the time of this write up , no answers have been found in the disappearance of Mike Palmer.

Sadly tragedy befell the family again in April of 2010 , while Mike was still missing his older brother , Charles "Chucky" Palmer also vanished. The brothers disappearance was eleven years apart.

Chucky Palmer was 30 years old and a father at the time of his disappearance. He was riding with a group of friends on a snow mobile when the snow machine's handle/steering wheel broke and Chucky became separated from the crew. The snow mobile was later found left in the snow. But no trace of Chucky has been found.

https://charleyproject.org/case/charles-edwin-palmer-v

According to the boy's parents, Lisa and Charles Palmer and other family Mike was not a troubled teen in 1999 and had no reason to run away. The father did believe that Mike was deceased. Mike's brother Charles was declared dead in 2011.

One article describes Mike's shoes as having been placed neatly where they were discovered in 1999. Search dogs were deployed in the area with no result as they seemed to be unable to trace his scent. According to other reports , his family believe that Mike was abducted.

Troopers did not seem to believe that Mike fell in the river. At the time , the water levels were low with not enough log jam downstream so the authorities believed he would have been found quickly had he fallen in. Most specifically , his mother believes something happened to him on the corner of Silver Drive and Pittman Road.

The friends that Mike was with that night were supposed to be asleep in the clubhouse outside the back of the home, another report quotes Lisa Palmer as saying.

What happened with these two brothers?

It seems in Mike's case the family suspects foul play. In Chucky's case perhaps the elements, or being lost out after the snow mobile broke down.

Either way it is so sad for a family to suffer not one but two unexplained disappearances with no real answers.

It is as if the Alaskan Wilderness swallowed up two members of the family.

If you have any information that may help resolve either of these cases please contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-745-2131 or 907-269-5058

I know the wilderness is so vast in Alaska. I still hope that maybe someday a ribbon of truth can be found for the Palmer family and all those who love and miss Mike and Chucky.

It is so sad to lose your children, and in the second case a child lost their father.

Some sources also show that The Palmers father believes the friends in Mike's disappearance know more than they are telling.
