Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a hair analysis + consultation from upgraded formulas (Upgraded Formulas Hair Test: Analyze Minerals & Metals) and I wanted to share my personal experience.

See attached for my results. I thought the test itself was fairly informative. As someone who generally eats healthy - it was great to see my levels generally within the reference range (was told the additional elements section can get funky with 1st tests so to disregard that esp my high tin levels). The main conclusion otherwise was potential improvement in Selenium - which would help with mercury. Iron is tough because it seems to be better measured from a blood test (I've never had indications of iron issues from my prior blood work for what it's worth)

As for the consultation - I'd give it a 2.5/10.

Pros: 1) Learned about my metabolic type 2) clarified results on additional elements being funky 3) bits of knowledge on thyroid and adrenals

Cons: 1) Overall call felt very salesy. Dietician seemed very intent on selling me the upgraded formulas magnesium and 8hr sleep supplements when my levels were fine. Gave the whole pitch on it being nano - which is fine, but most of my results were in the reference range (but it was spoken like my magnesium, potassium, etc. were low - but then what is this reference im looking at??). It was multiple instances of pitching their products and I started questioning why did I pay for this sales call?

  1. Answers to my questions were kind of fluffy and in contrast to what ChatGPT says. Not that ChatGPT is the final answer on everything but having it review my results contrasted with what the dietician was telling me.

For instance, I was told from these results that I could have a thyroid issue (that wouldn't show up on a blood test) - i then asked what specifics from that test would give that impression. I was told a very dodgy generic response that didn't answer my question, even when i asked multiple times.

Another instance: i was told my sodium was imbalanced relative to my magnesium and potassium but looking at my results, they were all within reference range. It also seemed like we were looking at two different tests

Overall - I understand its her job to upsell me on their stuff (given the preferred pricing I was given from the consultation) - but the call itself was not worth the money. The test - I think so if you have discretionary funds
