Importing svg makes a huge green mess
Im trying to make a branding iron for an older gentleman who wants to stop carving his signature into his workpieces, and just brand them instead. I created an svg of his signature in inkscape, and then brought it into freecad. When trying to make that svg a sketch, it makes a million green lines all over the screen, impossible to work with or see anything thats going on, and it makes my (quite powerful) desktop beg for mercy. I want to use freecad as Im tired of dual booting, id like to remove windows completely from my life, but I use fusion and vectric software for my small business. I don't have time to spend hours trying to get a simple svg onto my part, i gotta get it out the door.
I tried validating the sketch and freecad said everything was fine, but the icon for the sketch has an x on it which seems like things arent fine.
I tried making a new svg in inkscape and chqnging the bitmap procedure twice with the same result.
From what i can tell, importing the svg and then in the draft bench converting to sketch, and then moving the sketch onto the part is the best way to do this, but if I am incorrect please advise on the better way to do it.
Im on 1.1.1 and linux mint, running freecad from an appimage.
Any suggestions? I know I have to relearn my process with a new software, but I'm struggling with a pretty simple task, makes me wonder if I should just deal with windows and use what I know.
All this, and i haven't even tried the CAM yet, hopefully it works well enough.
