Hello everyone! Planar Standard is planning on running a tournament with a $100 top prize this Saturday, May 2nd at 1 PM EDT on Arena, and we wanted to invite the players at r/MagicArena to come participate! The tournament will be held on our Discord [here] (https://discord.gg/p6wJ6V7FDH).
Planar Standard is a community-run format that consists of Foundations and the last two years of Universe Within sets. Our goal is to have a slower format; fewer releases, fewer powerhouse cards, and more time to brew in-between sets. Currently, it consists of 6 sets: Foundations, Aetherdrift, Dragonstorm, Edge of Eternities, Lorwyn Eclipsed, and now Secrets of Strixhaven which makes it the perfect time to brew and try your luck in a new format!
If you're wondering what the meta currently looks like for Planar Standard, we have a couple of recent posts about popular decks you're likely to run into [here] (https://www.reddit.com/r/planarMTG/comments/1swmtvb/decks_to_watch_out_for_part_one_popular_decks/) and rogue decks that have been popping up in the last week [here] (https://www.reddit.com/r/planarMTG/comments/1swpl55/decks_to_watch_out_for_part_two_rogue_decks/) Last monthly had 7 different archetypes and can be found [here] (https://www.reddit.com/r/planarMTG/comments/1sduqq1/recapping_the_monthly_top_8/), but doesn't include any change-ups from Strixhaven's release. And finally, if you want the opus magnum of information about Planar Standard decks and cards, you can find an extensive meta guide [here] (https://www.reddit.com/r/planarMTG/comments/1sukcha/planar_standard_meta_guide_season_i/) for Lorwyn Eclipsed's season.
Our community has been steadily growing throughout the year, and we're hoping to keep finding new people to be able to play games with. If there are any other questions, about the tournament or the format in general, I'd be happy to answer. We hope to see you there!
Repost because I screwed up the title initially!
