Life Sentences in the U.S. should not exist, or should be significantly less common.

The average person sentenced to life in prison without parole in the U.S. costs the government roughly $60,000 annually.
There are currently 60,000 prisoners serving life sentences without parole (LWOP), which is typically over 50 years in prison.
These 60,000 prisoners will cost the government (Our tax dollars) roughly $180,000,000,000 lifetimes.

The most common reasons for LWOP are Murder, Mass Drug Trafficking and Distribution, Kidnapping, and Repeat Sex Crimes. These people are the lowest of the low, truly of no use to society, yet our money is spent on them to live out their entire lives in a safe box.

The a full body organ donor can save the lives of 8 people who would otherwise die without those organ replacements. They can also improve the lives of up to 75 more people through things like Blood and Cornea donations.

These people, who will do nothing but sit in a box for 50+ years on our dime could save and improve the lives of 80+ innocent people, while saving the government billions.

Food for thought.
