new kitten care

hello friends! i (27NB) just today rescued a very young kitten (we think they’re about 3-5 weeks old) who was found outside all alone. i’ve raised kittens from newborns before, but never fully on my own, and i’m generally an anxious person— so i wanted to ask y’all for all the general knowledge on caring for such a young beast. chances are i know most of it already, but even if you think i might, please include it! i am a person who does best with clear instructions, so having other folks validate that i’m doing things right (or correcting me if i’m not) is extremely helpful. i’ve not had any issues with the baby so far, this is mostly preemptive bc i’m worried about doing something wrong.

for general info, i live in brooklyn, nyc, currently just me and my other resident cat (10F). i have a local vet and am planning on scheduling an appointment for the kitten soon. i’m not yet sure of the kitten’s sex (part of the reason for going to the vet) but they’re lively and noisy and seem to be doing pretty well! they’re weaning off of milk (eating wet kitten food mixed with milk) and the foster said the baby started using the litter box on their own. also the kitten is ofc currently quarantined from my resident cat.

TL;DR, i’m raising a very young kitten by myself for the first time and just want to make sure i’m doing everything i can to take care of them and raise them well.

please enjoy this photo of the little creature, and thank you!!!
