so for background im 20 in college going for a bachelors in management and possibly a masters in information system. my school has a pathway where i can get my masters in just a year after getting my bachelors. I currently work at a warehouse making 17.74 an hour from 7-5 m-f and will be getting a 3% raise next month. my company has 401(k) match up to 3% the pros are the raises, the company christmas bonus which is around 1-1.5k and they are lenient with my school schedule since they know i’m also a full time student. the cons are there is no ac or heat in the warehouse so whatever temp it is outside it’s the same inside. steel toe boots and my feet are constantly swollen from standing and walking all day. I also have asthma and we are located between a mining quarry and a concrete factory so there is dust and gasses all the time. Not much room for growth since most of the office positions are given to children or family members. I recently interviewed for another company as an administrative assistant and i will getting paid 18 an hour working 8:30-5 m-f. since they are a small company it will be more hands on training and more room for growth and improvement. They liked that i’m billingual and want me to do sales for them and get commission from every sale. the only reason I would take the second position is for the reason that it looks better on my resume and won’t be as taxing on the body. My question is should i take the pay cut for the office environment position and because it looks better on my resume when applying for internships or should i try and stick it out in the warehouse until i find a better paying internships or position.
