3:30 on car ride home on 4/27/26 I got sever sudden paid in my lower left abdomen. Arrived at home close to 4-4:15 pain subsided with heating pad. Pain can back worse around 6-6:15. Arrived at ED. They performed two types of ultra sounds and a CT scan. Gave me pain reliever. Sent me home with percocets- 5mg Oxycodone mixed with 325 mg of acetaminophen along with a bottle of 500mg neproxine. The ED informed me I should be seen by gyno asap as an “Ambulatory referral to Gyno” the soonest their referral could see me was mid June. I called the same hospital back on the morning of 4-29 stating the pain medicine was becoming ineffective. They informed me I could go back to them, do the same exams, (which was very painful) and they could send me home with the same script but suggested instead that I call my PCP for a refill. As I later did but never received. The same day I called a different ED. They were able to get me to be seen at a gyno on 4/30/26.
I arrived at the Gyno At 8:45 am on 4/30/26. I was seen by the gyno on staff(don’t recall name) and I gave them a copy of my discharge paperwork from my ER visit which they were able to access the results from. Within 10-15 minutes, my gyno performed no tests other than just feeling my abdomen and asking me questions. She then sent a message to Hershey med to be seen ASAP as she thought I could have an ovarian torsion.
I arrived at a different ED around 11:00-11:15. I got seen right away. There, they performed more ultrasounds on me and came to the conclusion I had an ovarian torsion and requested I get it removed asap. My ovary had become necrotic and they were not able to save it along with the fallopian tube. I got into surgery around 12:45 and got out at 5 something, they evaluated me, gave me something to eat, made sure I was able to urinate and sent me home with pain medication. I am in recovery and much less pain.
Is this cause for malpractice? I know sometimes the torsion can be intermittent but I don’t believe that to be the case..
