Hi! I need help choosing between Indiana University for a degree in international law and George Washington University for a degree in International affairs. I know it's slim pickings already, but I am mainly focused on job prospects after graduation, as well as the best choice for applying to law school or other higher education institutions. I also wish to study abroad at some point in time. The social scenes at both schools are also incredibly different, so please provide me with any insight you may have! I want to fully optimize my college experience.
Indiana University
PROS:
- In-state
- solid program and amazing world languages department
- Full-ride!
- Big 10 school ( I did varsity cheer and am interested in trying out sophomore year)
- beautiful campus
- huge alum network
- easier to make friends and have a community
CONS:
- I really hate Indiana and am wondering how many things there are around Bloomington to do.
- I think I would want a larger change in environment
George Washington University
PROS:
- ranked top 10 for my major
- Free tuition for families making under $100k ( we make WAY below that)
- great internship opportunities; good opportunity to build my resume
- Washington, D.C
- Campus is the city!
- active club scene
- more universities around to make friends
- D.C has a significant Black population, and I'm African American
CONS:
- I really dgaf about sports, but no football team (not a huge factor in my situation, but it's still there)
- Competitive culture (again, don't really care, BUT I am incredibly worried about being burnt out)
- Dining halls apparently sucks
- far from home (approx 9 hrs)
- don't know how easy it is to maintain a good GPA
