from my new collection urban patterns and above

i wanted to photograph birds but didnt find any so i put up my 420-800mm MF Telelens to 1 flower and waited... after 1 hour the rarely seen hummingbird butterfly (Macroglossum stellatarum) came by at exactly this flower. ive only seen 2 in my whole life. i jumped by sheer happyness.

shot was at 420mm f8 1/1500 on a canon eos 500d.

It was very bright with the moon but i aimed to shoot the stars and the milky way anyways. I heard that shooting it is best on a wide angle so i shot my my standard 18-55mm canon efs

photo was shot in 8s f8 6800iso in MF.

on a canon eos 500d

but it looks just.. bad?

is it impossible to get good star photos without layering?
