Supervision Contract Questions/Transferring Hours
Hey everyone,
I graduated with my MSW in December and am about to sign a contract with a CMHC to begin the supervision process toward independent licensure.
What kinds of questions do you wish you had asked before signing a contract?
The position has good benefits, solid supervision, and overall is a pretty decent opportunity that could provide really valuable experience as a newer clinician before eventually relocating. My main hesitation is that realistically, I would probably need to relocate (mid-supervision) after about a year.
Because of that, I’m feeling nervous about signing a supervision-related contract. The supervision repayment cost is lower than some contracts I’ve seen, but I’m still trying to figure out whether it makes sense if I already know relocation is likely.
I’m curious about others’ experiences transferring supervised hours mid-process across state lines. I know it's a headache but did your hours transfer smoothly? I am also wondering if others have found positions that offer supervision as part of employment without a repayment commitment, or is this pretty standard for newer clinicians?
Any advice or things you wish you had known before signing would be so appreciated.
