Hi everyone!
I started desogestrel ~ 9 weeks ago and wanted to share my experience to see if some of you relate.
Context: I started it to stop my periods. I have AWFULL cramps, for which I have to take anti-inflammatories continuously for three days, and not only is that not always enough, but it has also upset my stomach. (I did a bunch of tests for endometriosis, but nothing came out of them.)
So I started taking desogestrel, and it quickly relieved my pain. Since I started taking it around the time of my ovulation, I still got my period two weeks later, but it was very light and almost painless. I had some light bleeding two weeks later, but it wasn't painful and didn't last long. Actually, I didn't have a real period until 40 days later—it was still almost painless and very light. In fact, my periods lasted about 9 days, but they're very light, so it was still manageable.
I'm really happy about this: I wanted to gradually stop getting my period and not have to deal with the pain anymore, and that's exactly what's happened! 🥳 I don't have any headaches, my libido is fine, I'm sleeping well, I don't have acne, and I haven't gained any weight... BUT!
Before my last period, I had what felt like the worst PMS ever. Sore breasts, fatigue, body aches, and above all... mood swings. At first I was angryyyyyy, and then I was sad and melancholic. Since my periods aren't as predictable as they used to be, I didn't make the connection right away. But as soon as I started bleeding, I felt much less tired, I felt better in general.
But my mood is still... kind of weird? 🙃 I am not angry anymore, I just feel weird, not really like myself. I am... blah . Sometimes I have a great day, feeling great and everything, and the next day: blah. U know what I mean? 😅
I know your body need approx. 3 months to adjust, and I just started my third month, so I am still in this process but... Has anyone else experienced the same thing, and did things improve in the following months?
(I also have ADHD, so my mood is already kind of weird when I'm tired. + I have a physically demanding job that requires me to get up at 4:30 a.m., and I haven't had a vacation in 14 months. + I am quitting smoking. Soooo, I know it's not JUST the pill lol That's why I will stick with it for a few months. I think I just need to read some positive feedbacks haha).
