Elden Ring sucks
This is my first ever souls game. It took me 4 years to finally pick this game up to try it. It only took me a month and some change to get all of the achievements. It could’ve taken me less time, but a good 1/4th of my time was spent rune farming and exploring. My first playthrough took 38 hours to beat all of the bosses and beat the game. Again, a big portion of that was doing random shit. The map doesn’t feel as big as I thought it would be. And it’s because of the lack of replayability. My first playthrough made it seem massive, but the second time around I pretty much know where everything is. And I don’t see any reason to go back to the places I discovered that didn’t have an item I’d need. Most of my time was spent on my horse riding to an undiscovered location. Boring as fuck. The developers added a lot of enemies—too many enemies—to artificially slow you down. That’s lazy, and bad game design. To circumvent that, I overleveled to beat any mobs that tried to slow me down. I’m around level 301-305 or something like that.
The scenery’s always praised for being beautiful, but I rarely enjoyed peering out at the world. Seems like they just added little sparkly orbs everywhere to make you think it looks cool. I don’t care for that lame shit.
The armors are also kinda meh for the most part, except for a couple. The beast champion armor, and the bull-goat armor are nice. They’re pretty cool. If I see one more person wearing radahn’s set I’m gonna explode.
There aren’t enough combos, and the timing windows are pretty terrible. There are times where I knew I dodged perfectly, but the enemy still hits me. And times where I should’ve hit an enemy, but it doesn’t connect. It’s as if I threw a ghost punch. Also, stamina runs out way too quickly, even at 80 endurance. Lots of enemies and bosses also have ridiculous combos. So instead of being able to throw an equally crazy combo back at them, I’m forced to roll and run away and wait for a window. That’s fucking lame. Some windows only allow a single strike. And the camera’s dog shit. It’s not zoomed out far enough for me to see much.
The leveling system also sucks. I’m forced to farm because the enemies hardly give anything. Even the bosses give lousy amounts of runes. 1.6 Billion runes to max out, get the fuck out of here.
The only reason I played it at all, is because of the same reason I got all of the trophies in GoW (2018) and GoW: Ragnarok. It’s easy to overlevel and speedrun my way to unlock everything. It caters to bad players. I’m a terrible player, and I can beat the game. That’s it. That’s the only reason I play. I like getting achievements. That’s why there’s only 1,000 game score worth of achievements. Thank fuck I save scummed.
