Waitlisted by UCLA&UCB, accepted Harvey Mudd, gathering ideas about where to go if off waitlist

Hello, I am an applied math major who wants to try quant but have 0 experience in either competitions or research.
Suppose I get off UCLA/UCB waitlist, what are the reasons to UCLA/UCB?

I see multiple people with same majors get off at each day’s wave, though most are in L&S.
And it seems that for each major, a few will get off and more will get off in the subsequent waves.
And it seems like multiple people of the same school will get off at once.

Eg. I’m an instate applied math majors and today there is one getting off.
I hope I’m not cooked.

Hello, I am an instate East Asian Male applying to Applied Math major with 0 competitions and 0 researches but 4 college math classes (just regular MultiCalc, Linear Algebra, DE, and discrete math 2).

I mentioned I will further my activities with some the math insights I saw from them.

I mentioned I got 98&100 on the 2 recent math exams and the 100 on AP Psychology Debate.

I mentioned consistent 98% on AP Physics C and 98% on AP Econ.

Do these improve my chance of getting off UCLA waitlist?

Hello, are there applied math majors who got off first year waitlist?

My info:

I applied to L&S with Applied Math major and got waitlisted. It was a bit surprising because I had 0 competitions at all, but simply 2 community math classes with As at the time (Multi Var Calc and Linear Algebra). I finished elementary DE (A) and Discrete II (IP, but current grade A) this year.

LOCI:

I mentioned that I got 98 and 100 on Discrete II’s exams, and about 3 projects I wanted to push on, which were in the application but weren’t math oriented until I recently found out their math connections.

Do these improve my chance of getting off waitlist?

UCB seems to admit 2-3K less freshman this year, compared to previous years with 15-16K.

Does this imply that first year freshmen have a higher chance of getting in?

The transfer amount is kept at 4,600.
