Do you ever jam online?
Hey Everyone, I’m a drummer and my friend is a pianist. We love hardware instruments, but living in different places makes jamming together tough.
We looked at existing online jam software, but it’s always a headache to set up with audio interfaces, and the audio lag kills the timing.
Since we are devs, we are working on a web app to connect electronic instruments over the internet using lightweight MIDI packets instead of heavy audio. The idea is that you just connect your synth via USB, open a browser link, and play with someone in real-time while the browser handles the sound locally.
We are filming a video demo of our setup next week, but we wanted to ask: Do synth players even care about online jamming, or do you strictly prefer playing in the same room? What features would a web tool need for you to actually use it?
