how hard is surgery recovery?

im set to have surgery in a few days and i was told about 4-6 weeks before i can begin PT. obviously this depends on the person and the break and etc etc but how did it go for you? how hard did it hit you what did it feel like and how long did it take for you to feel like you were back to “normal” in some way?

i dont think ive ever had a surgery like this before and i genuinely dont know what to expect 😅

4 days in, when can I go back to normal??

dramatic rant/advice needed pls

this has been one of the biggest mental challenge ive ever faced. i know that may sound sad and small minded but my biggest fear is to just be stuck on a couch unable to do anything let alone walk. and thats exactly where i am right now. i cant do anything by myself i can hardly even make it down the hall to my bathroom without taking 10 minutes, being out of breath, and my foot being purple.

i didnt need surgery. just given a cast and hopefully i can get a boot soon. this is just so frustrating and challenging and i still havent even processed it to be honest. ive never broken a bone before let alone been immobilized this long.

My question is; when did you get to go back to normal and how? when did you start being able to make short trips without your foot swelling? when were you able to go up stairs, no matter how strange? when were you able to go back into life to some extent?
