Has anyone had any luck negotiating with Capital One?
I’m trying to clean up my credit after several years of hardship and was prepared to settle one of my charged off accounts tonight with a lump sum payment. I called the number they direct you to (800-258-9319), explained my hardship situation, and tried to negotiate a lower settlement based on a previous offer I had seen on the website. As of right now, I don't even have a lump sum offer on the page, only a 3 month, 6 month, and 18 month plan.
The rep basically refused to even entertain any negotiation outside of whatever automated offers happen to appear on the website. They told me there was nothing they could do and that I just had to wait for offers online.
I then tried Capital One secure chat hoping maybe another department could help, but they told me that same phone department is the ONLY team that can even view the account and there is no chat support for charged off accounts.
