Need help with purchasing laptop

I am an electrical engineering graduate, interested in the software domain. Which laptop would suit better for me considering I'll be starting with 3rd year in a few months, macbook or HP Omen? I'm open to other options too if they are better. My budget is between 1 to 2 lakhs.

Hello! I am an electrical engineering undergraduate trying to shift to the software domain. Which laptop would suit better for me, IOS or HP Omen?

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: 1 to 2 Lakhs, India
  • Are you open to refurbs/used? No
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Since I might have to use it during classes, a good battery life is essential.
  • How important is weight and thinness to you? Something that I can carry around in my college bag
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I wish to use it mainly for coding and stuff I might need to install for studying.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I'm not into gaming currently but that is something I want to get into.
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Yes, good keyboard would be helpful along with a system that cools down quickly.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I require a laptop that efficiently runs long codes and causes no disruptions while installing applications for my core studies.
