Next time you think you fucked up, remember that Sovereign caused the destruction/possession/Synthesis of his whole "race" because, instead of focusing to open the Citadel relay, he possesed Sarens body to fight Shepard. The body's defeat, caused Sovereign to bug out and be killed. Had he simply ignored Shepard, the relay would be opened, the Reapers would come through and bam, no more galaxy
