Speaking multiple languages

I’m 31 weeks pregnant with a girl who will be born with down syndrome. First time mom as well. I’m Latina and speak fluent Spanish. My husband is white but always hoped our children would speak both English and Spanish. I know speaking in general might be difficult and it really depends on where on the down syndrome spectrum she is. But is it realistic to think she could potentially learn 2 languages? We’d also teach her sign language but it would be awesome if she could communicate with both sets of her grandparents in their native language. Has anyone had any experience with children learning multiple languages, other than sign language?

Women and Infants or Brigham for Delivery?

Looking for anyone who’s had experience delivering at both Women and Infants and Brigham. I’m a 44 first time mom. My baby girl has been diagnosed with Down syndrome. Initially, doctors at W&I thought she could also have a severe heart defect that would require several surgeries. They said I would have to deliver at Brigham in order to take the baby to Boston’s Children’s right after birth for her first surgery. I went to Children’s this past week to see specialists and luckily it’s not as bad as they thought. She may have a small hole in heart but that’s pretty common, doesn’t require immediate surgery or might close on its own. So they didn’t think it was necessary to give birth at Brigham. But I’m still debating if I should.

I live in RI but my husband works in Boston and has his family in Boston. I actually stayed with my in laws the night before my Children’s appointment to make it easier. Considering I’m still high risk, I may have to be induced or have a c section so it’s not like I would have to rush to Boston if I start getting contractions. I know as I near my due date, I’d have more OB appointments. I believe I’m able to keep most of those in RI and still deliver in Boston. My whole family is in RI and I’d want my mom with me during the delivery so I love the convenience of having W&I minutes away. But I’m wondering if it’s worth it to deliver at Brigham. Any moms out there have any advice or suggestions?
