Accused of Grooming a Child (England)
I've been accused of someone who I thought was a friend of grooming a fourteen-year-old (untrue - I have not been in communication with any fourteen year old) and this has led me to experience thoughts of suicide and a lot of people who were previously friends have stopped speaking to me. I found out that this was being spread by other friends who have since spoken to me about it (the accuser did not talk to me directly - they blocked me) and I proved conclusively to them that I was not, in fact, grooming a fourteen-year-old.
Is there any action I can take against them for these false statements? I feel that it has significantly impacted my social life, has harmed my mental health and led me to breaking down in an exam (which I then failed).
