Legends Pinball Micro backglass LCD failing (flickering/dimming) - anyone found a replacement for 8" TJ-080FHD0-A50JR?

Looking for some advice before I throw more money at my Legends Pinball Micro.

A few weeks ago, the backglass display started acting strangely. It would occasionally flicker or have a strange halo around the picture washing everything out. Eventually it got to the point where it was barely visible and would intermittently flash or flicker.

Unfortunately, this started happening just outside AtGames' 90-day warranty period. In hindsight, it was showing symptoms before the warranty expired and I should have opened a ticket immediately but, live and learn I guess.

AtGames support was responsive but that's about all the positives I can say. They suggested replacing the LVDS cable, at my expense, which I agreed to hoping maybe they'd seen this fix this particular issue before. Of course it didn't change anything. After that, they told me they had no replacement display options available and could only offer a replacement control board for about $100.

When I asked about sourcing a replacement panel myself, they advised me to disassemble the backglass and identify the display model from the label on the back. My panel appears to be the same 8" TJ-080FHD0-A50JR discussed in this thread:

The comments note that an exact replacement panel hasn't really been found yet, as of several months ago. I've found a similar panel, the G080UAN02.0, available on eBay and other sites. The specs and 30-pin connector look similar, although the connector location isn't exactly the same. Before I spend another ~$70+ gambling on a panel that may or may not work, I'm curious if anyone here has successfully replaced one of these displays or found a compatible substitute.

One other potentially relevant detail: when I removed the display, I noticed a small burn/discoloration mark inside the white frame around the monitor area. I don't see any obvious damage on the panel itself, but the back of the display is black and wrapped in black tape, so it's difficult to inspect thoroughly. Has anyone else seen something similar?

At this point I'm debating whether to:

  1. Keep chasing a replacement LCD and hope I can get the backglass working again.
  2. Convert the cabinet into a dedicated virtual pinball setup and stop investing in AtGames hardware.
  3. Cut my losses, sell the VIBS board and other AtGames-specific parts, and move on.

Has anyone been down this road before? Any success stories with replacement panels, or am I likely throwing good money after bad?

Thanks in advance.

Backglass wiggin' out.
