Would love a sanity check. Halfway thru stay I got a message from guest saying “ceiling fan broken, was fine before we left for the weekend but was broken when we came back.” Vague details which I didn’t know if they simply were hitting the wrong switch etc. I offered to send an electrician etc immediately but they never responded to me. That was a few weeks ago. When I went to the unit for turnaround, I found the ceiling fan blade snapped off, and the fan pulled down from the ceiling with the electrical exposed.

Can a ceiling fan blade snap off without some sort of impact?

My gut tells me that they jumped onto it from the bed and pulled it down and broke the fan blade.

Or could the fan have done this on its own if they left it running?
