I am in the Driftless area of Wisconsin and overnight, an Eastern whip-poor-will had been singing for hours. I went outside to record it as my first bird of the day, when a pack of coyotes ran past my house into the woods. The initial single howl was interpreted by Merlin as a "rare" Common loon! It made for some audio drama and if you listen to the end, you will discover if the whip-poor-will kept singing, or not.
