I want to preface this by saying that I’m fully aware that directors can only make so much work but at the same time, I also feel beholden to my job in a way that doesn’t feel good to me.

So I put in for a 2 week vacation, mind you I put in for it 4 months early. Next staff meeting there was a whole rant about not approving time off longer than a week because it’s “impossible to make it work with staffing”. Also bear in mind that it’s apparently totally fine for people to take 4 weeklong vacations a year and other people have taken 2+ week vacations in the past.

Is it petty of me to plan on finding a different job, giving my start date to be after my trip (to see family I haven’t seen in over a year) and put in my notice that I’m quitting when the time comes leading up to the trip?

It’s not just the vacation, i also never wanted this to be a forever job. Bottom line is, I work hard, I do my best to be flexible. I don’t take a ton of time off and I’ve never had an employer try to put conditions on how I can use time off and quite honestly I find it ridiculous.

Idk maybe I’m in the wrong here but I’m just done with this job for a multitude of reasons.
