Mining claim on unclaimable land? What can be done?

I was doing some research on a river that has a wild and scenic designation that I would like to prospect on. From what I can tell, that designation removes it from eligibility to be claimed, but in checking the blm mlrs it seems as though someone put a claim on it last year. The rest of the river is claim free despite having good gold, which leads me to believe that it indeed is not possible to claim. Is there a way to report this claim as invalid? Can the claim owner really restrict prospecting on this section of federally protected land?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Resources for learning gem design and optimization?

I’ve recently been trying my hand at playing around in GCS to modify some existing gem designs and make my own designs. I’m really interested in learning how to optimize the cut as much as possible and I was wondering if there were any resources that teach what I should be looking for as far as light return, windowing, head shadows, different lighting types, etc.

I appreciate any help as I continue my learning journey!

My third stone off of my Vevor machine. A little marquise in synthetic sapphire.

This is my third stone and my most complicated yet. This design is 3.111 Split Facet Marquise in a teal synthetic corundum. Let me know what you think!

I also had a question that I’m having trouble finding a solid answer to, so I’m hoping people here could help: what determines how sparkly a stone is? Does more facets necessarily mean the stone will be more sparkly? Does anyone have any designs that are super sparkly in sapphire that they would recommend?

Second stone off my Vevor machine!

This is a synthetic green corundum cut in Robert Longs “Duke”. Final weight came out at 1.2 carats. Need to learn more on polishing and I need a better table adapter than what came with the machine, it’s a total pain to get it lined up well and I ended up over cutting the table. I also cut the girdle quite thin on accident so I’ll be avoiding that next time hopefully.

Let me know what you guys think!
