Julian Lage Cover - Solid Air

Julian Lage Cover - Solid Air

I’ve made it a goal to learn as many Julian Lange tunes as I can. I find it makes me a better player overall. My chops as well as my improv have improved. His ideas are so rich and IMO grounded in all sorts of Americana music and not just pure jazz. Here’s a tune of his called Solid Air

I think Dylan’s attitude was that he was glad people liked his songs, but don’t look to him personally for any answers. He had no interest in being anyone else’s voice, just his own. Here are some lyrics of his that I think convey that thought process. How about some others

“The man in me will hide sometimes, to keep from being seen, but that’s just because he doesn’t wanna turn into some machine”

“It’s never been my duty to remake the world at large, or is it my intention to sound a battle charge”

Basically all of “it ain’t me babe”
