How often do you skip eating to do work?
I’ve known only one law firm. Haven’t worked for any other one.
In my practice, it’s not uncommon for me to skip lunch. The norm is drinking a protein shake in the morning because it’s fast. And then about 2 days a week I won’t eat again until like 5 pm. Maybe I’ll have a couple cookies or something in between calls. Today for example, I had a protein shake around 8:30 am, a few cookies in between calls, and now a bit after 7 pm I’ll have an actual meal.
My group can get hectic where clients need something on a fast turn around, and we work often with partners from other groups where you don’t want to disappoint even one time because that might be the only time they experience your work. So when rushed requests come in, it can feel like running around playing whackamole until there’s a break enough to eat.
I always assumed this was normal. But I realized I’ve only worked for one firm and it may or may not be normal.
