tips for keeping cool?
tl;dr: it's too hot and my dog likes to be outside. help?
i have a corgi and he's only a year and a half old. he's usually very active, but it's gotten hot now here in TX. he 1. doesn't want to be as active as usual, and 2. still wants to go outside. OR he stays in a lot and sleeps most of the day, which worries me because he would normally be stir crazy by now.
i try to play with him inside, but we live in a small apartment that's very cramped. there's almost no space to really do anything but exist. he also gets bored playing with me lol, he wants to run around and play with everything/one else.
all this to say, my options are really limited. there aren't any dog friendly places that are indoors, and while he does love to go to the park, he gets bored because he's too hot to really play.
i've tried cooling mats; he doesn't like laying on them, especially if they're wet. i've tried a cooling vest, it didn't really do anything but make him wet. he's scared of fan motors. i keep water with me but that isn't really enough. i would just drench him in water, but he can't dry his fur that fast and i worry it would only make him feel worse - all wet and sticky and still hot. our pool doesn't allow dogs and neither does the adjacent lounge area. we don't have any sort of bigger area to even get out a kiddie pool - although i'm considering it anyway.
wth do i do? i feel terrible that he's just stuck existing either bored or overheating.
any input is super appreciated, thanks!
