MM AE at Blue Chip Org or Enterprise AE at Startup?

Hi Reddit, considering a job change and would love some outside perspective. Keeping details vague to avoid doxxing myself.

Currently I'm a Mid-Market AE at a well-known public tech company, comp is below market for my experience level.

I've been interviewing for other roles and currently have two offers in front of me:

Option A: MM AE role at a blue chip data and AI company. Slight OTE bump (210k OTE, 50/50 split), but essentially a lateral move in terms of title and scope. Would likely be 1-3 more years before I get into a true Enterprise role.

Option B: Enterprise AE at a Series B startup in an adjacent market to what I sell today. Significant OTE and base increase (300k OTE, 50/50 split). Would be working directly under a former manager I trust and have a strong relationship with. First Enterprise role, adjacent product so the ramp would be fast, and the company has real equity upside if things go well.

The thought of having a blue chip company on my resume is definitely appealing since I’m still earlier in my career.

At the same time, the opportunity to step into an Enterprise AE role under a manager I respect is also very appealing, especially with the higher earning potential and the fact that I’m at a point in life where I can afford to take some risk.

For those who’ve faced something similar, how much does the blue chip name actually matter long term? And how much weight do you put on a trusted leader vs. company brand when making a move like this?
