How can I make more friends?

31, British Turk, born and raised in the UK. I've lived in Didim a few years now but most of my mates are Brits who are older than me. I've got some Turkish friends around my age, but they're married with kids, so there's not much overlap for socialising. I'm also not the type to walk up to strangers.

Walking round town and seeing people playing volleyball on the beach, all socialising, makes me feel like I'm watching my old life through glass. Back in the UK I had a solid friend group and knew loads of people locally, so it came easy. Out here it's been much harder to build that up again.

Part of the problem is I stutter. I manage fine in English, but talking to a Turk brings out the nerves, even in English, let alone Turkish. So even when I've got the confidence to approach someone or a group, I worry I'll embarrass myself.

Any advice from people who've been in a similar spot, or just settled somewhere new as an adult, would help.

Looking for friends in Didim

31, born and raised in the UK

I've been living in Didim for years, but most of my friends are other Brits who are a lot older than me. The few Turkish friends I have are married with kids so it's difficult to hang out.

I don't really get the opportunity to meet Turks and I'm not the kind of person who approaches strangers. I'm looking for a friend or a group to hang out with, play volleyball on the beach, share some drinks with, go to BBQ's and so on.

I actually have my own house with a pool, so I'd be more than happy to host a pool party sometime.

My interests are sport, history, art, gaming and music etc.

I'm a fun, honest person. I have good morals, I'm loyal, witty and adventurous and I hope to hear from you!
