SI joint cortisone injection
I'm a 35 yo woman and I hurt my SI joint a couple month ago doing heavy garden work on my property. Things i've tried:
- Chiropractor twice a week for 2 months = didn't change much.
- Bought a sit/standing desk and try to stand more during work
- Bought a different pillow
- Put a pillow between my legs when side sleeping or below my knees when on my back.
- Have rested for weeks on end, only to come back to sport and have the pain come back again.
- Started physio-exercizes like bird/dog , clamshells etc daily.
Today I had a cortisone injection. The doc numbed it first which was a painful injection but I felt like a brand new baby moving around afterwards. Which confirmed it is my SI joint that's the issue. Then the cortisone injection, didn't feel a thing.
I asked doc how big the chance is I'm going to have to see him for another injection and he was quite hopefull it might just be this one time because I'm young, fit, healthy, active, not overweight. He said to go back to normal life after 5 days or so (including sports).
I am looking to hear from other healthy/fit women in their 30s who had the same injection done and whether or not it permanently solved their issue. Also, how did you rehabilitate after the injection? Doc says I can go back to pickleball in 5 days but I'm so scared to undo what the injection might have helped with.
Thanks.
