4yo doesn’t want to move/only wants to go to field
I have gotten the chance to start this horse and he’s an angel i’ve been working with him since he was 2 1/2. I usually work him in his pasture. we used to go in the small grass ring and out in the woods/field. When he was 3 I trusted him in the field and we would go on trail rides confidently and even alone. A few months ago i fell off and then after I had taken him to the field and he flipped out. The walk to the field is close to a stallion pasture, we were probably 20-30 feet away and he freaked out rearing, snorting and stomping (he was gelded and then ended up having one ball dropping so he is technically a stallion but he has never showed any stallion behaviors …I am also training a stallion that came straight off a breeding farm) He had never acted like this and it’s on a hill so it was very dangerous and we haven’t been out there since. everytime i take him out of the pasture he doesn’t want to go to the ring and only towards the field/woods. I just get worried as he has gotten much stronger and is definitely feeling like a stallion, I also usually ride alone (i have also trained him without a bit and am not planning on using a bit) . If i try to take him to the pasture he stops and will back up towards the woods. Does anyone have advice? When I ride him in the pasture he never wants to move and always wants to go to the gate leading outside, I understand he’s probably bored but i’m nervous to take him down there after last times situation. I just feel like i need to get confidence again bringing him out to the field i don’t know how to get there though as he’s gotten stronger, the down hill trek freaks me out and that is the only way to get down there
